Most of you probably have September 1 marked on your calendars due to the inevitable release of Kojima’s last hoorah, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.
I for one, will be standing in line for another game. One I got to play at E3, one you definitely should not miss if you’re a fan of open-world games.
Mad Max.
Mad Max features and all new story with completely new characters. Max’s world is one of fire and blood, and the characters you’ll meet are crucial to how the story unfolds. The voice acting is top notch, the combat intense, and the driving addictive. The game also has an all original story and is not a movie tie-in (surprisingly).
The game is an open canvas and your paint brush is you car–Max will be able to purchase numerous deadly upgrades to take on the enemies of the wasteland; your car is your livelihood in this game. The developers say over 60% of the game takes place in your car. I can attest, there’s lots of driving–but it’s fun, brutal and downright nasty.
Developer Avalanche Studios (Just Cause 2 and 3) has carefully crafted a unique open-world experience that should not be missed. The combat system is very reminiscent of the Arkham series, which makes sense, since this is a WB Games produced title and they own both franchises.
I won’t be buying MGS5 on September 1. Instead, I’ll be waiting till it releases on PC and playing it in glorious 4k on that really ridiculously good looking Fox Engine.
Till then, my world will be of fire and blood.
